Kraken’s SeaThrust™ rim-driven thrusters are quiet, compact, and lightweight. They convert electric power directly into propulsion without transmission loss or gearbox noise. Couple that with our exceptional expertise in pressure tolerant technologies, and you have a thruster that works best under pressure.

Kraken Power’s thruster technology is field proven for the harshest subsea environments. The unique hubless and pressure-tolerant design combines rugged design within less components. The thruster does not require any seals and therefore, is inherently less susceptible to water ingress.

From the very beginning, the thrusters have been designed with deep water applications in mind up to 6000 m.

The thrusters are responsive, powerful, easy to integrate, and provide a unique combination of ultra-compact power and high maneuverability while being virtually maintenance-free.

Kraken offers two versions of SeaThrust™, T100 and T160, both to suit your operational requirements. The thrusters fit a multitude of applications, such as unmanned underwater vehicles, remotely operated vehicles, autonomous underwater vehicles, manned submersibles, and surface crafts, to name a few.

Kraken Power GmbH designs and manufactures unique pressure tolerant thrusters, drives, batteries, and electronics. The company was established by Carl Thiede during his thesis project on pressure tolerant applications.

Marine research, exploration, deep-sea mining, gas hydrate development, science and industry all demand the development of compact, cost-effective and reliable submersible vehicles, which are easy to operate with the lowest possible costs. Kraken Power GmbH provides a new generation of unmanned diving robots operate autonomously and reliably from several thousand meters. The pressure-neutral technology developed by Kraken Power GmbH offers an alternative to conventional pressure-resistant encasings made of cost-intensive materials and the maintenance-requiring oil-compensated systems.

The goal of the Kraken team is the development of an uncomplicated and economical technology for the construction and application of mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems that withstand a hydrostatic pressure of around 600 bar (equivalent to diving depths of approx. 6,000 m). Based on this technology, Kraken Power GmbH offers various electric drive systems with a power range from 100 W to 3.6 kW and energy supply systems based on lithium-polymer cells.
