We are seeking an experienced Accountant to join our team. The successful candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, team environment and be interested in contributing to the direction of future Kraken products.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in accounting and finance in a publicly traded company, preferably in a manufacturing business
  • Bachelor of commerce, finance, business or equivalent
  • Understanding of GAAP and IFRS in relation to accounting and inventory
  • Professional accountant designation is desirable
  • Experience and proficient with Excel and SAGE required
  • A strong desire to roll up your sleeves and get the job done

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILIITIES:

  • Perform daily general accounting functions
  • Incoming and outgoing payment transactions (cheques, wires, ACH)
  • Assist in completion of month end, quarter end, and year end activity for local and international subsidiaries including accruing AP/AR invoices, determine required month -end adjustments, and prepare intercompany billings
  • General ledger account reconciliations, accruals, supporting schedules and variance analysis
  • Assist with corporate cash flow analysis and forecasting
  • Assist with accounting processes and implementing internal accounting controls to ensure accuracy and timeliness in both general and inventory accounting functions
  • Interact with clients, vendors, and employees to execute requests within the accounting area
  • Review employee expense claims for accuracy and compliance to company policy
  • Assist in the year-end audit and tax filings with the team and the auditors
  • Prepare remittances as required HST, WHSCC, corporate registrations, etc.
  • Experience with government funding programs IRAP, SRED, NATI, PRNL, other
  • Coordinate internal and external audits
  • Contribute to process improvements for financial reporting/planning and cash management and contribute to integration and upgrade of our financial systems

We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, team environment and be interested in contributing to the direction of future Kraken products.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent design standards and strong troubleshooting skills
  • Demonstrated technical skills along with a proven track record for success.
  • Experience in the design specification, installation and connection methods of electrical equipment
  • Create and maintain electrical drawings
  • Optimization of electronics designs for assembly and manufacturing
  • Optimization of BOM
  • Design and review PCB Fab drawings, PCB Assembly drawings and provide input into new product designs.
  • Strong written and oral communications skills, including technical reporting
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Must be able to work independently, as well as effectively within a team environment
  • High degree of organization, with the ability to prioritize tasks
  • Experience with the following would be considered an asset:
    • Design of PCBs using low-power microcontrollers
    • Experience with Sonar systems in an ocean environment
    • Principles of analog sampling circuit design
    • Principles of high speed digital communication circuit design
    • Experience with robotic control systems or mechatronics
    • Appreciation of other engineering disciplines (Mechanical, Software)

  • Minimum 2 years of object-oriented software development experience
  • Experience with C++ software development on Windows or Linux, preferably both
  • Experience with version control systems, such as Subversion

  • Strong written and oral communications skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Must be able to work independently, as well as effectively within a team environment
  • High degree of organization, with the ability to prioritize tasks
  • Experience with any of the following would be considered an asset:
    • C# and XAML GUI development
    • Digital signal processing, especially in an ocean environment
    • Experience with sonar systems and acoustic signal processing
    • Appreciation of other engineering disciplines (Hardware, Digital and Analog Electronics)
    • Familiarity with data communications protocols and general networking experience
